Early January 2016, Hoeilaart, Belgium:
After 15 years and four homes, it’s time to leave Belgium. We’re ready. Well almost. Packing boxes are yawning, waiting to be filled and every few days buyers turn up to haul away furniture we won’t be able to absorb into our new home in Horsham. In a few days time Gordon says goodbye to everyone at ExxonMobil in Diegem, Brussels and becomes officially retired. Of his 30 years of working for the company, half of it has been here in Belgium. Living in Belgium’s been good for our family in so many ways, but we’re looking forward to a different kind of life somewhere else. For the foreseeable future this is Horsham, but who knows where we might go. We have a small circle of friends to say goodbye to, whom we’ll miss, but are sure to stay in touch with. Hopefully this blog will help us stay connected with family and friends around the world who want to know where we are and what we’re up to. Feel free to write to us along the way!
